THE IMPORTANCE OF TRACE MINERALS

WEB BLOG TRACE MIN

There are two classes of minerals: macro minerals and micro, or more commonly known as trace minerals. Macro minerals are minerals needed by the body at a dose of at least 100mg daily. Calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, etc. are examples of macro minerals. Trace minerals are needed in amounts of only a few milligrams or micrograms per day. Like macro minerals, trace minerals are inorganic, meaning they cannot be produced or synthesized by your body. Adding trace minerals to drinking water is the easiest way to ensure that you obtain all of the trace minerals you need.

Trace minerals are crucial for many functions in the body. These include serving as the building blocks for hundreds of enzymes, facilitating numerous biochemical reactions, supporting normal growth and development, maintaining brain health and neurological function, acting as antioxidants, maintaining healthy blood, and playing essential roles in the production and functioning of various hormones.

Trace Mineral drops are an excellent way to replenish lost fluids and electrolytes, not only when it is hot out but when it is cold too. Breathing cold air makes you lose water and electrolytes during the colder months. When you inhale, the air that you breathe in always gets humidified, and the water used for that is released when you exhale. The amount of respiratory water you lose is determined by the difference in water vapor pressure between the saturated air in your lungs and ambient air. Because cold air contains considerably less water vapor, your body needs to use more water for humidification, resulting in more water and electrolytes lost.

The easiest way to use trace minerals is in a liquid drop form. Simply add a half teaspoon of liquid trace mineral drops to one gallon of clean drinking water or 2-4 drops in 12oz of liquid. We recommend the brand Trace Minerals ConcenTrace Mineral drops which we have carried since the late 1970’s.
