TOOLS FOR THE COLD & FLU SEASON

WEB DEC BLOG IMMUNE

It is that time of the year to work on our immune system to stay healthy. That is the key to avoiding the cold and flu. If you are a believer of the germ theory, that germs are the cause of illness, then there are many tools to treat symptoms. Choose from vitamin C, echinacea, oregano oil, garlic, elderberry, and zinc. My personal favorites are HybridCR, lomatium, nano silver, adding a 1/8th of a teaspoon of cinnamon to a tablespoon of local honey, and drinking ginger shots. Lomatium is a liquid herb by Barlow Herbals that is a powerful comprehensive anti-microbial. HybridCR is formulated by Dr. Jason   Dubois who has a doctorate degree in Pharmacy. His research resulted in the HybridCR formula which is based on the herb Andrographis. At the first sign of symptoms, take one capsule three times a day, for 4 days. For better results, take one capsule on a regular basis as a preventative. I find this formula to work really well for most people.  Some people find taking 1000mg of vitamin C every 2-3 hours works well.

Aron McNicholas, who is a clinical herbalist, founder of Hartwood Herbals and works on the Georgetown staff, highly recommends Immune Tonic by Urban Moonshine. The two primary mushroom ingredients that fight symptoms are reishi mushrooms and astragalus. If experiencing symptoms, it is important to eat and drink properly to restore health.  Try drinking tomato juice, water, nano silver, and herbal teas. Eat lightly, avoid refined sugars and enjoy soups. An interesting recommendation is to put a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide in the ear. Some researchers believe the ear, not the mouth or nose, is the gateway. If you experience bubbling and/or stinging in the ear, wait till it subsides, then drain the fluid into a tissue. Repeat 2 or 3 times at 1 to 2-hour intervals until no bubbling symptoms occur.

For treating flu symptoms, consider taking the homeopathic Oscillococcinum as directed. If you are a follower of the terrain theory, the key is to support the immune system to maintain a healthy terrain. Symptoms are a result of an unhealthy terrain and microbes are generated to eliminate toxins. Suggested steps to prevent illness are reishi mushroom, vitamin C and zinc, HybridCR on a maintenance basis, spinal adjustments by a qualified chiropractor, and eating healthy. Please speak with a Natural Living staff associate for further help in choosing the best products for you. [Next month I will discuss Methylene Blue, which is reportedly very effective in preventing/treating the cold and flu.]
