Sulfur: Vital For Life

2019-10-09-copy

Coincidence?  In 1954 the US government instructed the agricultural industry to begin using chemical fertilizers.  Since 1954 the rates of disease have shot up about 4000%. These fertilizers are devoid of sulfur due to the 360-degree temperatures used for production.  This process vaporizes sulfur and binds up any free sulfur.  Fertilizers such as ammonium nitrates and sulfates appear to have broken the sulfur cycle, greatly diminishing the naturally occurring sulfur in our food supply.  It is believed that depleted sulfur in our soil plus the exposure to the chemicals in the fertilizer has contributed to the decline of our health and vitality.

Sulfur is the third most abundant mineral in our body.  Sulfur is present in all living tissues. Your skin, muscles, and bones contain about half the sulfur in your body.  Sulfur enables the transport of oxygen across cell membranes that results in cell regeneration.  The lack of oxygen is believed to help cancer grow but it is known that sulfur can produce a surge of oxygen into cancer cells.   You can see why sulfur may have an important role in the prevention and treatment of certain types of cancer.

The best food sources of sulfur are organic pastured eggs, grass-fed meats, nuts, leafy greens such as kale, spinach, and broccoli, as well as onions and garlic.

The supplement MSM is the most common source of sulfur but not all MSM products are alike.  The West Coast Organic Sulfur Project states that MSM in crystal or flake form is the most effective form when treating cancer, pain, osteoporosis, lymphoma and tumors, constipation, arthritis, chemical sensitivities, improving eyesight, skin quality and tone, and more.  Individuals undergoing chemotherapy taking 2 to 3 tsp a day reported less nausea, diarrhea, and hair loss.

We stock the MRM brand of MSM (sulfur) that is in crystal form.  Please ask a Natural Living associate to assist you in selecting a sulfur supplement.
