According to Matt Blackburn, founder of Mitolife, shilajit may be a panacea. Shilajit has been used in India for thousands of years and is an excellent source of fulvic acid. Fulvic acid helps transport minerals directly to where the cell needs them, like in the mitochondria. Shilajit is a complete trace mineral source, containing more than 84 carbon-bonded organic minerals that are easily absorbed by the body. It enhances the absorption of other compounds taken with it and chelates and complexes inorganic minerals. It is considered a whole food supplement that brings mineral balance to the body in a natural way. Shilajit chelates metals and excess iron. What this means is for every molecule of fulvic acid, a very large amount of metals gets chelated and rendered inert. Here are some of the health benefits of taking shilajit:
- -it may help improve exercise performance, muscular strength, and tissue oxygenation
- -it is being studied in neurodegenerative diseases to combat cognitive decline
- -it has cardioprotective effects in experimentally induced myocardial injury
- -it has the potential to aid in healing ulcers
- -it is known to improve markers of oxidative damage and preserve bone mineral density in menopausal women
- -it may help with high-altitude problems
- -in a clinical trial it has been shown to increase collagen production
- -500mg a day for 90 days may increase testosterone in men by about 30%
Our Natural Living Department now carries Panacea by Mitolife in tablet form. Each Panacea box contains 240 tablets of shilajit in a blister pack. The tablets are very small and easy to take. Each tablet contains 200mg of shilajit. If you take 2 a day, this package will last 120 days. It is recommended to work up to 4-5 per day.
Be aware that Panacea tablets may melt in hot temperatures so keep in the fridge if necessary. It may be taken anytime during the day. If you find you are sensitive when first starting out, avoid taking it before bedtime.
