Cataracts and Eye Health

Image-for-Ricks-Blog

Last November I discussed glaucoma and how a long time customer reversed her glaucoma with nutrients and food.  This month I want to discuss cataracts as they are more common and the leading cause of vision loss in the US.  A cataract appears as an opaque spot on the lens of the eye that obstructs vision.  You may experience a general blurriness or more difficulty reading street signs.  Depth perception may be affected.

What are the common causes of the formation of a cataract?  Free radical damage to the proteins in the lens is very common due to antioxidant deficiencies.  Nutrient deficiencies such as vitamin A, glutathione, lutein, vitamin B2 and L-carnosine may contribute.  Other factors are chronic stress, allergies and food sensitivities, smoking, diabetes, alcohol, drug side effects and sunlight.  A highly refined carbohydrate diet is no doubt a contributor.

Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to prevent and treat cataracts besides traditional cataract surgery, which carries risk itself.  First, cut out the refined carbs.  Protandim is an excellent choice to address free radical damage.  High amounts of vitamin C may be helpful.  I recommend liposomal vitamin C.  The herbs ginkgo biloba, and bilberry extract are recommended.  Selenium, glutathione and alpha lipoic acid are known to be supportive of preventing and treating cataracts.

An eye drop called Brite Eyes III consists of the amino acid L-carnosine, which according to research in Russia over 25 years ago showed potential reversal of cataracts.  Since claims cannot be made the label states this product is an eye lubricant.  Some users report a quick improvement in vision using L-carnosine eye drops.

Richard Schulze, the master herbalist, states he has witnessed very good results using Dr. Christopher’s eye formula consisting of eyebright, bayberry, red raspberry, golden seal and cayenne applied as a liquid solution directly in the eye.

Please let us know if you wish further information or if you want Richard Schulze’s protocol.

Coming next month….Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe, the documentary.
