Bloodroot (sanguinaria Canadensis), is a popular herb that has been used for over a hundred years. It has gained popularity in the last few decades as an herb that has drawing properties to eliminate abnormal cells internally and externally. Bloodroot is often combined with other herbs such as graviola, chaparral and cat’s claw. When combined with zinc chloride in a paste form it has strong drawing properties when applied topically. This paste is also known as black salve and is best used for drawing abnormal cells at the skin surface. It is not unusual to experience pain when using the salve containing zinc chloride topically. Even though it is safe to use when applied properly it is considered very controversial by most conventional medical authorities. No surprise there!
