Tomatoes lose flavor if refrigerated. Unripe tomatoes should be stored in a basket on a counter or on top of the fridge, to allow the ripening process to continue. Any type of produce that continues to ripen after picking, including pears, peaches, and plums, shouldn’t be refrigerated. Store them in a brown paper bag at room temperature until ripe.
